Howdy List,
Qlab continues to be a shining star for our company, and, after
thinking that I would never use the video module, never say never.
We are doing a high school production of "Singin' in the Rain" and
all the film sequences (which were directed and filmed by some former
students, and very well done) were in DVD format, ripped to MPEG4 and
are being run with -- you guessed it, video cues.
I want to second someone else's thought that it would be nice to have
more control over the audio tracks. My Macbook has a horrible ground
loop problem when I try to route it directly to the console, even
with the grounding cable on the power supply. My solution was to run
it into the MOTU Ultralite and run a second output back to the
console. That works well, just more setup to do and cables to run.
When you have time, Chris...!!
Of course there is probably a way to grab the built in output and
route it directly to the MOTU, but it wasn't immediately obvious, and
for the sake of time, I did it that way.
I appreciate benefiting from the group's experiences and feedback.
BTW, I didn't get any answers on my video balun problem, so am still
scratching my head. I suspect it has something to do with the Mac's
display detection, which is not passed through the CAT5 interface,
but have not been able to confirm that yet.
