Hey Folks,
Working on a production of Singin' in the Rain, and thought that Qlab
would be a great way to handle the cinema sequences (shot by the AV
folks at the local high school and save on DVD media).
I got two JobSite BT-VGA CAT5 baluns to try out this afternoon.
Absolutely would not pass the Mac video. The projector is a
ViewSonic PJ551, and it works fine connected directly to the DVI
output via the Apple supplied DVA to VGA adapter. Put the baluns in
line with CAT5 interconnecting them and the projector claims that it
sees no signal. I tried both standard Ethernet wiring as well as
straight through with the same results. I am pretty sure these
things are designed to use standard Ethernet wiring.
I moved the complete setup to a Windows machine with an ATI high end
card, using the VGA output (it is a dual head DVI/VGA) and it works
perfectly as a second display (dammit), using a stock CAT5 ethernet
patch cable. Cable wiring is apparently not the issue.
Since Qlab doesn't exactly run under Windows, I am stuck. Any
thoughts from the video gurus? Otherwise, I have to tell the tech
director that we are back to square one, a DVD player and student in
the orchestra pit to run the cues.
Thanks in advance
Geep
