[QLab] Careers in Sound

Hello Everyone,

I do apologize that this has basically nothing to do with QLab in any  
way, but having heard great stories of awesome Technicians doing  
Broadway quality productions and other really fantastic work, I  
thought this would be a good place to ask a few questions.

I'm currently in the middle of high school here in Canada, and am  
looking into some different career options, one of them being a sound  
technician.

For anybody who wants to share (you can contact me off-list) I would  
love to hear your story. Things I would like to hear about include  
what you are doing, how you got there, what sort of educational  
institutions if any did you attend to train, and what your interests  
are that made you decide that being a sound technician was for you.  
Also, any previous occupations (like if you went from a recording  
engineer to live etc) would be great to include. Also, if you  
comfortable, what kind of a salary you make would help too.

I have a few years of experience but I still have a lot to learn, and  
am still really unsure as to what is the best path for me, so I would  
love to here your stories, long or short.
