Re: external synth, my Google searches seem to indicate that the  
ability to route to external devices was either broken or removed  
from recent versions of Quicktime, System Preference setting  
notwithstanding.

I'm confused by the conflicting information.  Anyone else have better  
information?  That would really stink if Apple discontinued that  
feature.
