[QLab] Favoured video formats

Wikipedia has a few good articles, especially about currently exciting
web-worthy codecs. For more info, a google search for "video codec" and
whatever words work for you (I just tried "video codec breakdown" and
"video codec comparison") should get some good results. For truly
antiquated information, including such legacies as Quick Time Video,
search for Codec Central. Other than lots of research on google, maybe
the FCP online help? That's always worth a try. For shows, I use Quick
Time Animation, and for the web, I use h.264 or Sorenson for flash.
They're what I've found that works well, so I don't mess with it. No
one seems to have put together a current list of codecs with their pros
and cons. Not to mention that new ones are popping up at least monthly.
There are some benchmark tests out there that can show you a little bit
of subjective information, but nothing comprehensive that I can find.
