I have had no reports of a MOTU 828 causing a freeze.  I expect if  
you attached an Edirol FA-101, FA-66, or Canopus ADVC you'd see the  
freeze.

Ironically, this may be because the MOTU has its own drivers, whereas  
the other devices do not require special drivers.  I don't know that  
for sure, though.
