I believe I have a log from David Chadderton that was taken when  
using a Canopus, so I think we're good on that front.

Although it freezes when just the Canopus is connected, this doesn't  
necessarily mean that it is the canopus driver causing the problem.   
Have you ever installed any other audio hardware previously that  
would have had a driver installed with it?  Other drivers sitting  
around on the system may be involved.
