It wasn't so much my reference to joystick controls (since that's not really the
best analog for a tracking interface IMHO) but just a reference to the many
types of flexible control interfaces possible, using the capabilities and
features of SM-S. I foresee a wide variety of methods of controlling and
programming 3D spatialization being employed. The best input control for such
motion could well be a custom interface which I have seen used occasionally: a
stylus which can be moved in real time 3D space and is currently embodied in
only one commercial product, The Bat from A&G Solutioni:

A&G actually adapted this device to control the earlier AudioBox models, but
have not done it for the AB64 or for SoundMan-Server (yet). A&G also have a
variety of other spatialization products available which you can explore on
their web site. We are currently evaluating several of them and A&G are
extremely helpful in communicating with any developer who wants to support their
products. I recommend looking carefully at The Bat since it very closely
matches my opinion of a perfect input device (unless you can actually track
actors using RFID tags, but then that won't work if there's imaging to do
without something to track!)

Ugh!! glad it's cool here....
