You're correct Joel, the free version supports 8 channels in and out.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds to me like you are describing
what you are seeing in Audio MIDI Setup, not QLab.
When I hook up my MOTU UltraLite, I also see the channels grayed out
in Audio MIDI Setup, but that only means that Audio MIDI Setup is not
allowing me to adjust the device volumes from within that program. I
can still use the device from QLab, where all the channels are enabled.
So this may be a silly question, but have you tried the device from
QLab?
