No where near a mac of any sort at the moment, but I don't think there is a 
keyboard shortcut for global pause.

However, you should be able to set up a pause cue targeting a Cue List, and 
asign a keystroke to this cue.

again, can't verify this at the moment but am sure I've tried this with 
success.
