[QLab] sampled beat into song

Question: How would I be able to transition from a sampled beat into
a song
keeping the beat underneath? I have a sequence where I am playing a
rhythm,
and I need to start a piece of music when the stage manager calls it,
and it
needs to line up with the beat. The cue can be fired within a second
or 2 of
the stage manager's call, the most important part is that the music
lines
up. Any Suggestions?

Thanks a lot!

This is the kind of thing a hardware sampler does very well -
latching beats

how about starting both sound cues together with the song having no
volume, then the next cue would fade up the volume of the song.

Or if you want the transition into the song to be near the beginning
of the song, get a rough estimate of the minimum time it takes from
the beginning of the sampled beat to the point the stage manager
gives the cue for the song to start. Add this amount, minus a few
seconds, of the sampled beat to the beginning of the song audio
file. Trigger both cues together - as above - with the song at no
volume with the the next cue fading up the song . We don't hear the
sampled beats that are added to the song sound file, they are just
there to make sure the amount of time matches up to a beat.

Or tap your feet and be a musician!
