[QLab] M-audio 410 and the night of a thousand disk permission repairs

Which version of the M-Audio FW drivers are you using?

I updated to the newest drivers qualified for use with 10.4.9 and found no
end of problems, audio dropouts, audio disappearing when changing levels,
clock errors etc etc...

I uninstalled the device (using M-Audio¹s own app) then installed firewire
driver 10.7.4 (an even earlier version than the one I was using prior to the
initial upgrade but the first to support Intel dual core) and now find my
fw410 and fw1814 both work a lot better than before, the driver appears more
stable, audio dropouts have disappeared, the clock is stable and all audio
apps (including qlab) perform flawlessly.


Sometimes the newest driver is not the way forward and with M-Audio¹s track
record for drivers....
