Nope. Totally agree with you.
I haven't had a chance to tech a show with the live update feature,
but after testing it I can see how it could be problematic in
rehearsals. I'll go one further:
Say you have a single music cue that fades up and down multiple time
in the course of a sequence.
eg
Q1 Music is played at -10
Q2 Fade takes it to -2
Q3 Fade takes it to -15
Q1 is running (music is playing at -10) during a preview. I decide
that based on that level, that -15 will be too low. I adjust Q3's
fade level to -12. The music jumps to -12, before i've even taken Q2.
I think, as Michael suggested, that if there was a way to toggle live
fade update off, it would eliminate the problem and maintain
flexibility for most situations. Anyone have a suggestion on a work-
around before I write a ticket for it?
