Good point.
Since my expertise mostly concerns what happens inside the computer
rather than what happens outside it, I'm treading on less familiar
ground here, but I reckon Rory's point is the more important one.
i.e. It seems the signal path from audio file to ear will get more
dirt from the acoustics of the room, the speakers, etc, than it will
get from upsampling or downsampling. I bet the folks on the Theatre-
sound list would have additional insight on this.
