[QLab] iTunes, DP & Q Lab

I do the same thing on show site with Digital Performer on a
Powerbook & QLab on a dedicated Mac Mini. I'm assuming you know how
to "mix to disc" and export files from Performer here.
I ethernet between the machines & create a folder on the Powerbook
desktop for the DP session, I then "read" this folder on the Mini and
drag over completed files after they are exported from DP. Obviously
I can also drop files from the Mini into this folder for subsequent
editing in DP on the Powerbook.
However, you are going to have problems with the iTunes files as they
have DRM and cannot be played on unauthorized machines or imported
into an editing program. 2 ways around this -
1) Google for an iTunes decoder, install & reprocess you're files, be
warned, this may not be legal in many cases
or
2) burn your itunes music to an audio CD and re-import to your DP
session
QLab will play iTunes files directly on an authorized computer (if
they play in iTunes on that machine then it is authorized). However
for mission-critical cues I would recommend converting the files to
AIFF after decoding as above. Hard drive space is cheap.
You will LOVE QLab BTW. If you have any more Q's feel free to post
or em me directly. Happy to help.
